Isola delle Chiatte, reachable by walking along the Aquarium pier, is located exactly in the center of Porto Antico. A place full of charm thanks to the skyline, the view overlooking the city hill tops but moreover because of the sounds you can hear: the creaking of the docks, the rolling of the boats on the water and the shrieking of seagulls offer a unique sensory experience.
Design and use.
Isola delle Chiatte, designed by Renzo Piano on occasion of the 2001 G8 Summit, is named after the great composer Luciano Berio. It’s a floating structure formed by a number of old barges used in the port fitted with some benches and a wooden stand with handrail protection. Nothing more.
It is a simple place, full of charm, popular among tourists and locals looking for peaceful places to think or simply relax. Isola delle Chiatte is perfect for musical projects, choirs and classical or electronic performances even without the use of technology.
